​Absolute beginner with zero knowledge of French

​At the end, learners should be able to:

  • Know French alphabet and count from 1 to 100.

  • Introduce themselves and others using simple phrases.

  • Ask and answer simple questions.

  • Understand familiar words and phrases when spoken slowly and clearly.

  • Understand basic information in simple texts.

  • Write short, simple sentences about themselves and their immediate environment.

​Beginner with little knowledge of French

At the end, learners be able to:

  • Engage in conversations related to familiar topics (e.g. family, daily activities) and in basic social interactions (e.g. ordering food).

  • Express opinions, feelings and needs in simple sentences and describe surroundings and immediate environment.

  • Understand simple conversations, basic instructions and announcements conveyed clearly and slowly.

  • Understand short texts, advertisements and simple emails and extract key information.

  • Write short messages, notes and simple descriptions about themselves and other familiar topics.

This level would enable you to go by your day when travelling in France.

  • Write coherent and structured texts using basic grammar and vocabulary.

Most universities in France require foreign students to have a B2 level to be able to follow class delivery in French.
